Green Schools

Scoil na Maighdine Mhuire has been awarded our first Green Flag. This is a fantastic achievement and well done to our Green School Committee, staff members and students for all of their efforts in achieving this in our first attempt.

On Tuesday the 13th of May, Ms. McMahon and three members of the Green School Committee attended a ceremony in Galway where they were presented with our Green Flag. Click here to see a photo of the presentation.

On Wednesday the 14th of May, the Green Flag arrrived back at our school and huge celebrations took place in the school halla with everyone in the school in attendance. A huge cheer was heard all over the parish as the Green Flag entered the hall.We can't wait to see the flag flying high in the air inside the school gate very soon.

We have recycling and compost bins in all of our classrooms and yards and everyone is doing their best to reduce our rubbish going to landfill.

The Green Committee meet regularly to monitor our progress and keep us on our toes.

We have an action plan and a green school song.
